Overview
CDN 2.6 implements the following features in addition to previous versions:
- sending published stream metadata from Origin to Transcoder and Edge servers
Sending published stream metadata from Origin server to other CDN servers
Since WCS build 5.2.1916, Origin server sends a new stream metadata to other CDN servers when the stream is published. The feature is used, for example, to transcode a maximum ABR quality only if there are B-frames in source stream which are badly played by the most browsers. This allows to reduce a Transcoder server load when using HLS ABR in CDN.
Published stream metadata are sent automatically without additional requests.
Backward compatibility
1. Origin servers of previous CDN versions do not send published stream metadata, only the info about publishing
2. Edge and Transcoder servers of previous CDN versions ignore the message containing published stream metadata
